The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department was established in 2008 by Emiri decree as the official religious authority of the Emirate of Sharjah, responsible for overseeing and organizing religious affairs across all aspects of life.
Since its founding, the Department has worked to entrench authentic Islamic values and strengthen national identity in alignment with the teachings of moderate Islam, drawing on the guidance of the Emirate's wise leadership.
Over the years the Department has expanded to encompass a comprehensive network of mosques, Islamic centers, and charitable institutions throughout the Emirate, becoming a destination for researchers in religious and humanitarian affairs from around the world.
